S & K’s Bogus Journey: Part 1

Tagged Under :

So we just started our fateful trip from Idaho Falls to New York City – in our blue smurfvan of justice – with everthing we own crammed in the back. It’s been a blast so far, and although it may seem like the Idaho-Wyoming-Montana-Wyoming-South Dakota stage of the trip would be entirely boring and uneventful, a lot did happen, which I have decided to immortalize in a top 10 list:

Top 10 events from day 1 of our trip across America:

10. Seeing a real Buffalo (in Yellowstone Park)
9. Seeing a life-size ceramic Buffalo right before that
8. Eating approximately 30 packages of cheese crackers (you know, the kind you got in your lunchpail in elementary school?)
7. Leaving all our drinks in Idaho Falls and consequently dying of thirst around hour 7 of the drive
6. When Kristen said, “I’d rather poop immediately!”
5. Realizing after driving 320 miles that the gas tank mysteriously still said “Full.” (uh oh…)
4. Cursing Google Maps for directing us to drive THROUGH yellowstone park instead of around it, resulting in two hours of waiting for backed up traffic due to construction at the park and a $25 entrance fee. (I did mention that we saw Buffalo though, which made it nearly worth it!)
3. Free Jamba Juice from our friend James in the morning, and him passing this fat wad of cash between our car windows in exchange for Adobe CS3 (it looked really shady… like a drug deal).
2. Driving around Rapid City, SD, in a thunderstorm at 11 at night looking for a safe place to park the van and sleep.
1. Finding this scrawled inside the bathroom stall at one of the gas stations we stopped at:
